Collected Curiosities | Pop-up salons & Workshops

This December, Postmodern Art Club presents Collected Curiosities — a one-day event dedicated to the art of making, collecting, and the stories that objects carry. Reimagining the traditional market as a curated pop-up salon exhibition, Collected Curiosities invites visitors to wander the intimate space between art and object.

Highlights of the Day

1. The Art of the Book: A Binding Experience (10 am - 12 pm)

Discover how the form of a book can reflect its concept in this hands-on, beginner-friendly bookbinding workshop led by Olivia Arnold, a Sydney-based artist specialising in works on paper.

Participants will explore the purpose of an artist book; as both a finished artwork, and a documentation of process. The session will include a step-by-step guide on the stab binding method, an approach that allows easy and flexible curation of artworks together. While materials are all included, participants are also encouraged to bring any small works on paper they are happy to bind into an artist book.

Everyone will leave with a handmade book — a personal introduction to bookmaking and an invitation to experiment with non-linear storytelling, material play, and artist-led publication.

2. Art Workshop with Charlotte Cunningham (1 pm - 3 pm)

Discover a playful and intuitive approach to art-making in this hands-on workshop led by Charlotte. Participants will explore creative exercises designed to loosen the hand and quiet the mind — beginning with two guided prompts that encourage experimentation, mark-making, and an open-ended approach to materials. The session then moves into creating a small personal artwork, shaped by the techniques and ideas introduced earlier.

All materials are provided, and participants are welcome to bring any small references or textures that inspire them.

Everyone will leave with a finished piece — a gentle introduction to creative play, studio process, and the joy of making without pressure.

3. Pop-Up Salon (11 am - 5 pm)

A curated selection of works from the Postmodern Art Club ecosystem — including works from Artist Commission Programme, prints, secondhand art books, ceramics, small canvases, zines and more. The pop-up salon will also feature consignment works from PoMo Art Store, along with a special showcase of pieces selected through our open call. The space is designed for slow looking, reading, and conversation — a warm pause from the pace of the city.
