Starting Your Art Collection

Starting Your Art Collection

For first-time collectors

You don't need to be
an expert to start
collecting art.

If you've ever stood in front of a piece of art and felt something — then talked yourself out of buying it — this page is for you. There are no rules. No prerequisites. Just a feeling worth following.

01

Buy what you love, not what you think you should

Forget trends and investment value. The best first purchase is the one you'll still want on your wall in ten years. Trust your instincts — they're usually right. Art is deeply personal, and that's the whole point.

02

Start smaller than you think

A single, well-chosen work can transform a room. You don't need to fill every wall. Most of our collectors started with one piece — and it changed how they felt about their home entirely.

03

Get to know the artist

Every work at PoMo comes with the artist's story. Knowing who made something — and why — deepens the connection you feel with it. That's what makes collecting meaningful rather than decorative.

04

Don't let price be the barrier

Our works range from $500 to $2,000. We also offer payment plans on most pieces — spread the cost over 2–3 months so you don't have to wait until it feels "sensible." Good art rarely waits.

05

Come and see it in person

Photos don't do art justice. We host regular events and viewings in Sydney — come in, spend time with the works, and see what calls to you. No pressure. No formality. Just art and good conversation.
