Making
Sense
A monthly series of hands-on sessions built around the objects of everyday life, the materials we use to hold onto things.
A ceramic vessel holds something ephemeral. A book keeps photographs, notes, a handwriting that outlasts the moment. A drawing is a trace, proof that you looked at something long enough to mark it down.
Each session takes one of these materials and slows it down long enough to make something by hand. Not to produce something perfect. But to understand, through making, what we've been living with all along.
We spend most of our days moving past the things around us without really looking. Making Sense slows that down. Each session takes one ordinary material and gives you two hours to understand it differently, through your hands, through observation, through the quiet work of paying attention.
The idea is simple. Making something changes how you see it.
